Japanese Hand-Painted Scarlet Geisha Porcelain Cups — Set of Three

$85.00

A striking trio of vintage Japanese porcelain cups, delicately hand-painted with romanticised geisha garden scenes in rich vermilion, celadon green, and cobalt blue. Each vessel is uniquely shaped with softly undulating walls and finished with vivid lacquer-red rims and handles that glow dramatically against the finely detailed figural landscapes.

Produced in Japan during the mid-20th century exportware era, these pieces draw heavily from Kutani and Satsuma decorative traditions while embracing the playful elegance of postwar Japanese porcelain design. Their intimate scale makes them ideal as demitasse cups, sake vessels, display objects, or eclectic cabinet curiosities.

Beautiful grouped together on open shelving or a drinks cart, where the painterly scenes and sculptural silhouettes can be appreciated from every angle.

  • Condition: Good vintage condition, wear consistent with age. One cup as a repaired crack.

  • Origin: Japan

  • Production Period: 1940-60s.

  • Dimensions: 9 × 6 × 7cm each.
